Combining Affiliate Site Building Tricks

It's Halloween, so I will talk about some good 'tricks' I worked on this week. It's easy to tell an affiliate site built from a pattern like a Internet Marketing classroom. I am building one myself and hope that I can make it stand out from the rest. The domain of course is a giveaway when you scroll through the top positions in Google.

What I learned can I think help make the site look a little more professional and a little less cooky cutter WP Blog style affiliate.

I am using a plugin called Conversion Phoenix, which makes the affiliate link pop only when the person is on the page scrolling down. It gives an added movement that is less aggressive than the flashing 'banner' type I have seen promoted in some IM classes. Although it is not visible when you hit the page, hopefully it is more effective because the person has already started reading by the time they get to it and 'trigger' the appearance.

The call to action, keyword, and any text can be used as a link. It is very easy to use if you have the same link vocab for every page. It's more complicated if you have a different one for every page though, as you have to make a new link every time. So far I have 20....with 10 articles more to go.

Hope this helps make your WP blog look great.

Keyword Research and the Library

I did some keyword research in a very popular niche recently. I already knew the market was heavily saturated, but I am using Mark Ling's AffiloJetPack model to jump start my affiliate business. Mark says that even in dense affiliate markets, there is still room for success. While I do believe this to be true, I still want to find something that makes my site unique.

I went to the library to research this niche a little. The library? How slow, and how...well I got a laugh from my husband. I didn't want to read endless forum posts, other affiliate sites or other websites to start with, because I didn't want to start with a head full of ideas that could be disjointed, done to death or even incorrect.

I found 2 books at the library, one written in the 80's and one in the last 5 years. The one from the 80's, while pretty badly written, had a refreshing take on the age-old subject I was wanting to get into. The cool thing was, I found information there that has not yet been articled to death by other IM's.

I tried out 4-5 keywords in google adwords and NO PPC ads came back. I tried the top 5 site results and none were affiliate sites, although these keywords are totally relevant to the topic. Can looking backward, using the library, and having an open mind about how hard research can lead to great results make a difference? I haven't started the ads yet, but I will keep you posted. This could be great, hope so.

Today October 2, I am writing my first post of my experience of learning to be an affiliate. This is part of my goal statement that includes building an online affiliate business and making a blog post each week about what I have learned. Today I learned some of the mindset strategies that help you achieve affiliate success, from Mark Ling my chosen mentor :)

Trait #1: Your thoughts create your reality.
Trait #2: Focus on the business model that can significantly help you increase your income.

Trait #3: Reinvesting your money is how you make big money – and you should never feel guilty about making big money.

Trait #4: Constantly be learning from other millionaires – from those who are already where you want to be or who are more successful than you in a certain area.

Trait #5: Always attend to important tasks immediately – never waste your time procrastinating.

Trait #6: Focus on purposes beyond yourself – on things you can do with great wealth to help others.

Trait #7: Never allow non-inspirational people to influence you in a negative way.

Trait #8: Help others become more successful in their own life. Always negotiate with win-win in mind.

Trait #9: Work hard now so you don’t have to work hard later on in life.

Trait #10: Adopt a “can do anything” attitude towards obstacles.

Trait #11: Develop a strong passion for learning so you can find ways to solve even the trickiest challenges.

Trait #12: Mastering wealth generation requires daily effort.

Trait #13: Give every task your full attention – be 100% focused on whatever you are doing.

Trait #14: Delegate tasks and leverage your time as much as possible.

Trait #15: Keep on working whenever you find that you are in the “zone”.

Trait #16: Dare to dream big, and make a commitment to turning your big dreams into reality.

Trait #17: Use your spare time to create assets.

Trait #18: Adopt an abundance mindset and have a positive attitude towards money.

Trait #19: Visualize yourself already living the life of your dreams.

Trait #20: Love your life as it is now and really enjoy the challenge and the journey.

I also like his advice to work on your affiliate websites for a minimum of 20 minutes each day. Onwards!
